The Kepler track

This from "New Zealand - the Great Walks" by Alexander Stewart.

"The Kepler Track is unusual in that it was a purpose-built as a Great Walk. Constructed in 1988, the idea behind it was to offer an alternative to the over-crowded Milford and Routeburn tracks. Brilliantly conceived, it rivals both in terms of dramatic scenery and high-quality tramping. Several infrequently used tracks in the Kepler Mountains were fused together to create a 67 KM circuit that could be readily accessed from Te Anau. The result was a very high standard multi-day tramp through a variety of habitats, eminently worthy of its standing as a Great Walk. Relatively straightforward, it can be completed in three to four days and as a consequence its popularity has soared. The rewards of tramping the Kepler Track are many. Situated on the edge of the Fiordland wilderness, the track crosses spectacular mountain tops and links a host of disparate natural features."
